FAQs
Answers you need. Care you can trust.
After an accident, getting the right care shouldn’t be complicated. These are the questions we hear most — including the uncomfortable ones about cost, over-treatment, and insurance.
01I was in a car accident. Do I need a referral to come see you?
No referral is needed. Call us directly and we'll handle your triage evaluation and guide you from there. If you've already been seen at the ER or urgent care, you can still come straight to us.
02My primary care doctor won't see me for an accident injury. Why?
You're not imagining it — this happens constantly. Many primary care offices and urgent care clinics avoid motor vehicle accident cases because of the insurance and billing complexity that comes with them.
That gap is exactly why Peak Injury Clinics exists. Our clinics are set up to manage the medical care, documentation, and billing side of accident cases, so you don't fall through the cracks.
03I feel fine after my accident. Should I still get checked out?
Yes. Whiplash and soft tissue injuries often take days — sometimes weeks — to show symptoms. Feeling fine at the scene and hurting a week later is one of the most common stories we hear.
An early evaluation catches hidden injuries before they become chronic, and it documents your condition close to the accident date — which matters for both your health and any insurance claim.
04How soon after my accident should I see you?
The sooner, the better — ideally within the first 72 hours. Early care helps tissues heal correctly, and prompt documentation protects your insurance claim. But if it's been longer, don't write yourself off. Come in anyway; it's not too late to start.
05Will I be pushed into months of unnecessary treatment?
No — and we know why you're asking. Our model is conservative-first: we start with gentle care, re-evaluate at set intervals, and only escalate to imaging or specialists if your symptoms persist. You get what your recovery needs — no more, no less.
We also never cold-call accident victims. You call us, or a provider you trust refers you.
06Will my care cost me anything out-of-pocket?
Your initial evaluation has no out-of-pocket cost. From there, care is usually covered by auto insurance coverages (PIP or MedPay), the at-fault driver's insurance, health insurance, or a letter of protection if you have an attorney.
We walk you through exactly who pays before any treatment moves forward — no surprise bills.
07What if I don't have health insurance?
You can still get care. Auto accident injuries are usually paid by auto insurance first — the at-fault driver's liability coverage, or PIP/MedPay on your own policy (many Texas policies include PIP unless it was rejected in writing). If an attorney is involved, treatment can proceed under a letter of protection. We'll help you sort out which applies to you at your first visit.
08What happens at my first appointment?
We review your accident details, perform a thorough examination, and document your injuries. If advanced testing like an MRI is needed, we coordinate it immediately. You'll leave with a clear, personalized recovery plan — and treatment can begin the same day when appropriate.
09Do you only treat neck and back injuries?
No. We treat the full range of accident-related injuries: whiplash, back and neck pain, joint injuries, soft tissue injuries, and concussion-related symptoms. When a specialist is needed — orthopedics, neurology, pain management — we connect you quickly inside our network.
10How do you coordinate my care with other providers?
Think of us as your care quarterback. We oversee your entire recovery — evaluations, therapy, imaging, and specialist referrals — inside one network. You won't chase down referrals or repeat your story at every office.
11The insurance adjuster keeps calling me. What should I do?
You're not required to give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurance company, and it's usually wise to get evaluated and understand your injuries before discussing a settlement. Focus on your health first — we'll make sure your injuries are properly documented so the facts speak for themselves.
12Do I need a lawyer?
Not necessarily — it depends on your situation, and it's your call. Our job is your medical recovery either way. If you do work with an attorney, we coordinate with them so your records, imaging, and progress reports are complete and ready. If you don't, we simply bill the appropriate coverage. We never pressure you toward legal representation.
13Do you work with attorneys?
Yes. We regularly coordinate with personal injury attorneys to make sure medical records, diagnostics, and progress reports are clear, complete, and ready for your case if needed.
14Where are your clinics located?
We have 10 locations across Greater Houston, New Braunfels, and San Antonio — and we're growing. See the full list on our About page.
